Inferno by definition (m-w.com) can be reduced (without a god/hell connotation) as:
"a place or state of turmoil or destruction" ... which is seemingly (and saly) appropriate after Inferno's launch.
Look, down to brass and tacks:
I hope that David Reid, newly appointed Cheif Marketing Officer, by his promising words of Fanfest 2012, that he, of all people, can see the horrificly possible destruction or breakdown between a CCP game the likes of which is unprecedented in publishings (until the past year, admittedly) - and then we introduce the connection of SCEA (Sony) to obviously share proprietary coding languages to CCP in order to bridge EVE Online to the heavily backed "DUST 514" PS3-only console-game.
I have never before seen so many people docked at stations as I have today... and sadly, this would be the night of the LOWEST number of ingame players for the past 2+ hours - maxing around 16,000-ish players.
I imagine most of today was spent with people sitting docked or in/at their POS's and industrial outposts, thinking and wondering "where is our stuff and why has it been so toyed with that we've wasted our own paid time trying to break it all down?"
It's not like EVE, lately, has come out with a manual, and I suspect the Atari physical game release (if it had a booklet) ever had anything that would match today's insanity.
I hope, if the words of David Reid were and are true, that the CCP/EVE Dev(s) who have "responded selectively" to only seemingly positive posts with "Yes, you made me happy to read that" ... are actually taking to heart (and to business economics) the realities and truisms that ALL FEEDBACK (in the "Feedback" forum) are being read and understood by head members of the CCP/EVE Online staf and SCEA representatives and a VERY serious litmus indicator of where this game's following can possibly go - at what I would asume to be a most crucial time for both invested entities...
So I hope people like David Reid (CMO), CEO Hilmar Veigar P+¬tursson and Jack Tretton (CEO of SCEA) are listening AND reading closely... because if we are being encouraged to "set the universe on fire" ... and we aren't doing anything to actually do such a thing whilst trying to figure out where we put a "rig"... I would hope they are standing by with something to help keep the serious "burning" as a virtual reality... not an actual reality.
This game has been amazing.. it has been continually good (even with its up and downs...) but: something is very different right now, and it doesn't feel one shread of "goodness" after today/tonight...
Amongst the many 3-8 sentence responses about how bad things are or how good things are - without any description or usable advice or information - there are a few good, solid responses I've read through the night (it's been more entertaining than actually "playing" the game itself... "where are my exotic dancers... and, for that matter, where is my corporate hangar with the one container with something important I was supposed to do for the limited time I am actually on?"
...Only time, and people interested in saving this game and this merger of companies, can tell... And I don't feel a CCP rep will bother to respond to this... and that, if read by any of the above mentioned 3 people of great importance, should be a big indicator of where things are possibly going [pauses] "left of center... even if it's right for you"...
